| Eberhard Kempf, lawyer and criminal law specialist, born in 1943 in Lahr/Black Forest. Study of law at Heidelberg, Berlin, Freiburg and Paris. Practising since 1971, and since 1977 in Frankfurt on the Main.
Eberhard Kempf has been a member of the criminal law committee of the independent association of German lawyers (Deutscher AnwaltVerein) since 1990 and has been its chairman from 1996 to 2005 and was in this time a permanent guest of the criminal law committee of the German Federal Bar (Bundesrechtsanwaltskammer). He has published widely and frequently gives lectures. On several occasions he has been heard as an expert witness by the law committee of the German Federal Parliament (Bundestag).
In recent years, Eberhard Kempf has been actively involved in the foundation of the International Criminal Bar (ICB), the association of lawyers acting before the International Criminal Court. At the first General Assembly in March 2003 in Berlin he has been elected Vice-president of this association. The second General Assemblee of ICB held in November 2005 in The Hague has elected Eberhard Kempf – together with Jeroen Brouwer of The Netherlands – President of ICB for the following two years.
